Katrina Quilt

Alabama Customer, Tammie Black, bought large scale tropical prints from quilt shops along the Gulf Coast while on vacation in 2005. Many of the fabrics are Ro Gregg's Swamp Life prints, featuring alligators, roseate spoonbills and turtles and the pattern is Valori Wells' Bloom. She started piecing the quilt when Hurricane Katrina was forming. As she was finishing it, the electricity she used came from a generator. Many of the shops she visited on that vacation no longer exist. She quilted it with a dragonfly pattern and thought of the people she met with each stitch. The quilt is breath-taking, Tammie!
